Charter Blocks Topica | Statement From Charter | Releasing the Block | Accessing Topica Via The Internet | More Information
Many of our members use Charter Digital Pipeline's internet service to access their email messages. Charter Communications, like many internet service providers, must cope with unsolicited email (spam). One technique they use is to block all email that is addressed to or from "known" spammers. Topica has been used by spammers in the past, so Charter blocks their messages. They have since fixed the problem; they now use Sender Warranted Email from Habeas to guarantee that no spam gets through. But Charter apparently continues to block them (though they claim not to). Unfortunately, the BRBC List Server is hosted by Topica.
Charter Communications is not actively blocking Topica email. It is possible that Topica's email servers have been listed on one or more DNS-based blacklists that are preventing the emails from reaching the intended recipients. Please contact the Topica email Administrators to resolve this issue.

Subject: Re: BRBC: ListServe issues
According to the residential support operators at Charter, they
have Topica
filtered out because it is on several industry blacklists for
spam related issues. It will be a problem with any Topica list
you have subscribed to through Charter. Upon request they can
release the blocks on individual e-mail accounts, but you had
better be good at knowing how to operate the filters on your
e-mail reader.

George Riedese
If you cannot convince Charter to de-block Topica on your
email account, you can still access it on the internet. Just
click on the link that says List
Server in the menu on the left. This will take you to the
BRBC List Directory on Topica. Next, click on the button that
says Read This List. You will now be at the BRBC
Messages list. To post a message, click on the button that says Post.
To read a message, click on its subject line. Once you are in the
message, the sender's name is next to a pencil icon (
) in the upper right
corner of the message. To reply, click on the sender's name.
