EYA Fat Tire Festival: benefit ride/race staged from Eckerd Youth Alternatives, Camp E-Toh-Kalu, which is adjacent to DuPont State Forest. On the DuPont map the camp is listed as Sky Valley Pioneer Camp.
The 18 mile course is set up as a loop with dead end trails branching from it. The participant has the option to explore the dead end trail, kind of like a choose your own adventure book. At the end of the dead end trails will be where sponsors have set up their booths and schwag. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st through 3rd overall, however any participant has the opportunity to take part in the "treasure hunt." This course will be exciting for the middle of the pack riders. Rankings will be a-typical. There will be a seven mile inner loop as well. The EYA Fat Tire Festival has already posted on Active.com and been approved by the Forest Service. Live music (a local swing band) and additional activities for children will be provided by Hands On! A Children's Gallery out of Hendersonville.
